3rd Line Support Analyst – Theale, West Berkshire – £250+ depending on experience – 3-6 months

The role is based in Theale, Berks, with remote working for three days per week being typical under normal circumstances. It reports in to the Technical Director and interfaces closely with the teams supporting the company’s operational services to customers. Operational services are entirely Linux-based (Debian/OpenSUSE) and the back-office is predominantly Windows, so we need someone with a good knowledge of both.

Systems Administrator / 3rd Line Support – Linux, Windows – Duties

  • Systems administration and support of production infrastructure (Linux, VMWare)
  • Systems administration and support of back-office infrastructure (Windows)
  • Deployment of new machines for both the above (scripting etc)
  • Support and improvement of remote-working solutions (remote desktops, file sharing etc)
  • Taking lead on further development of the infrastructure
  • Providing support and mentor-ship to other tech support teams

Systems Administrator / 3rd Line Support – Linux, Windows – Requirements

  • Ability to install and operate Linux systems, including text mode
  • Linux shell scripting
  • Windows support and administration experience
  • An understanding of databases (ideally MySQL)
  • Experience of LDAP and/or AD
  • Knowledge of virtualisation (ideally VWare)
  • An appreciation of diagnosing network issues – e.g. with Wireshark
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work autonomously.
